Get More High Paying Clients with Outstanding Site Design

How well is your site converting visitors into leads and leads into high-paying clients? When most coaches and consultants think about website design, they usually think about pretty graphics and an attractive layout.

But if you want to fill your practice, you’ll need to think of your website as a marketing funnel, not just a pretty online brochure.

In this article I’ll share 3 strategies on how to design your site with marketing in mind - so you can get more high-paying clients.

1. Know Your Ideal Client Really Well

You can’t attract your ideal client unless you know your niche really well. Some people are attracted to yellow-highlighted text in the web content.  Others are repelled by flashing red arrows.

Does your niche like video?  Are they attracted to certain colors?  What words grab their attention?

Make a list of everything that you know attracts or repels your ideal client.  Then use this information when creating your website content and graphics.

Not sure what your clients like most?  Just ask them.  Give them two or three choices on a headline, color scheme, or graphic and ask them which they prefer.

2. Have a Marketing Strategy for Your Site

You already know that successful coaches and consultants have a great marketing funnel (or marketing pyramid) for their business.  It’s the blueprint that helps them get leads and high-paying clients.

But you also need a marketing funnel for your website if you want to convert visitors into prospects.  This is the #1 missing feature that I see on most solo-professional websites.

Think about a magazine cover.  A magazine may have fifty or more pages.  But the cover highlights one main article that starts on page 23.  It’s like they give you subtle instructions that say, “Start here on page 23.”

In the same way, your website may have ten, twenty, or fifty pages.  Do you have a marketing strategy that guides prospects to where you want them to go?

If you don’t guide your website visitors to where you want them to go, you’ll have a hard time converting them into prospects.

3.  Give Website Visitors Clear Directions

The third part of creating a high conversion site is to clearly tell your visitors what you want them to do on any webpage they land on.

In part two above, I explained that you want to guide them through your site.  But once you get them on a webpage, you need to clearly direct them on what to do first, second, third, and so on.  You do this through creative design, layout, and great use of web copy.

I tell my clients that every webpage should have three clear messages that are easily seen within a few seconds:

  1. Here’s what I got…
  2. Here’s what it can do for you…
  3. Here’s what I want you to do next…

The Next Step

Look over your website and see if you’re using the three strategies above to their fullest potential.  Make a list of what areas of your site you can improve to maximize your conversion rates for more leads, clients, and sales.

Separate your list by what needs to be done on the entire site and on each webpage.  Then start working on those areas that will make the biggest difference first.

Changes that will improve the entire site or your home/landing pages should be given top priority.  That way you’ll see a quick and dramatic return on your investment in time, energy, and money.
